Aquí está el concierto en Ucrania de Bono y The Edge, U2: desde una estación de metro de Kiev

Bono y The Edge llegaban a Ucrania para un concierto especial e inesperado desde la estación de metro Khreshchatyk de Kiev el 8 de mayo. Era su aportación personal para reclamar la paz y lo hacían en coincidencia con el denominado Día de la Victoria sobre la Alemania nazi y el fin de la II Guerra Mundial en Europa.

Dicho sea de paso, días atrás, si Ed Sheeran se reunía con la banda ucraniana Antytila para estrenar una versión de '2step' ahora estos fueron los anfitriones para la llegada de U2 a su país.

El líder de U2, Bono, decía desde esa estación refugio del metro de la capital que "Todos rezamos con vosotros para que podáis alcanzar pronto la paz".

En su actuación sonaron los temas clásico y esperados como 'Desire' y 'With or without you' aunque el momento crucial se dio cuando interpretaron 'Stand by me' junto a la banda ucraniana.

Recordemos que la actuación de Bono y The Edge surgió sin previo aviso.También se reunieron con el presidente del país, Volodímir Zelenski, con quien recorrieron las calles de la capital de Ucrania comprobando de primera mano la devastación producida por la invasión rusa.

De igual modo, el músico y activista Bono y el guitarrista David Howell Evans, 'The Edge', visitaban el lugar donde se encontró una fosa común junto a la Iglesia de San Andrés Pervozvannoho All Saints en la ciudad ucraniana de Bucha, cerca de Kiev.

Según explicó Bono en su visita, el presidente Zelenski le pidió estar presente en el día de la Victoria contra el nazismo que Ucrania celebra por primera vez un día antes que Rusia y el resto de las exrepúblicas soviéticas. Tanto Bono como The Edge fueron recibidos por autoridades de los tres municipios que visitaron (Borodyanka, Irpin y la fosa común de Bucha) y que explicaron las atrocidades que los ocupantes rusos realizaron en esas zonas.

Como decíamos al inicio la banda ucraniana Antytila, cuyos integrantes están actualmente en el frente de guerra, vienen de reunirse para una nueva versión del tema '2step' del músico británico Ed Sheeran para llevar los beneficios a ayudar al pueblo de Ucrania. Mientras Ed Sheeran canta en inglés,Taras Topolya, del grupo Antytila, introduce el idioma ucraniano. Según sus creadores, la idea de la colaboración surgió tras el 'Concierto por Ucrania' que, como contábamos en CADENA 100, tuvo lugar en el Resorts World Arena en Birmingham (Reino Unido) y contó con una alineación repleta de estrellas que incluía actuaciones de Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Emeli Sande, Gregory Porter, Snow Patrol, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Becky Hill, The Kingdom Choir, Manic Street Preachers, Anne-Marie, Paloma Faith y Tom Odell.
