Madonna celebra que 'American Life' cumple 20 años lanzando en alta definición aquel polémico videoclip

Hablamos del tema homónimo al álbum 'American Life' con una portada donde Madonna se mostraba como el Che Guevara y en donde sus tenía un gran caracter revolucionario. Eran tiempos de los atentados del 11-S en su país y de una guerra de Irak en ciernes. Después de su lanzamiento, el álbum debutaba en el número uno en la lista Billboard 200 con 241.000 copias vendidas en su primera semana.

Fue lanzado como sencillo principal del álbum el 8 de abril de 2003 en EE. UU. y el 14 de abril de 2003 en Europa. Como se recuerda, hasta ahora había dos vídeos musicales.

La primera versión es la que se ha revisado ahora en 4K y se basaba en una pasarela de moda donde se muestra la violencia de la guerra y la lucha con la que el público encuentra diversión al no entender lo que es realidad y lo que es ficción. Al final del video musical, el entonces presidente de los Estados Unidos, George W. Bush, es retratado por un doble que enciende un cigarro al recoger una granada que arroja Madonna y que era un mechero. Esa escena se ha quitado ahora

El contenido contra la guerra de su vídeo musical se interpretó como antipatriótico, lo que hizo que Madonna retirara su lanzamiento de los canales de música estadounidenses.También emitió un comunicado diciendo que lo hizo porque creía que no era apropiado transmitirlo en ese momento y que no quería arriesgarse a ofender a nadie que pudiera malinterpretar su significado.

Se produjo un segundo vídeo, que muestra a Madonna vistiendo ropa militar y cantando frente a varias banderas de países diferentes.

Ahora, aquí está el renovado videoclip que, eso sí, ha dejado atrás la escena final en donde salía George W. Bush.
