Recordemos que Ariana decidía sorprendernos a principios de noviembe de 2018 con esa canción titulada "Thank u, next".

Además, su nuevo álbum llegó en verano: "Sweetener" vino rodeado de expectación; tanta como el nuevo videoclip de "Thank u, next" que llegó el 30 de ese mismo mes de noviembre. El vídeo dirigido por Hannah Lux Davis,  como piedra angular, hace un recorrido por películas norteamericanas fácilmente reconocibles. Para este vídeo Ariana Grande recrea cuatro comedias de principios del Milenio e incluye la colaboración de buenos amigos de Ariana Grande como son Troye Sivan y Liz Gillies y también algunos protagonistas de los films originales.
